Construction company Arčers started using building information modeling and management (BIM) or smart construction in 2017, initially educating the team on BIM modeling and gradually adapting the BIM potential to everyday processes.
Over these few years, we have appreciated the many benefits of using BIM, so we continue to invest in BIM programs and staff training. BIM:
– allows to create reliable and mutually transparent design information
– helps to effectively plan construction work in order to carry out the project implementation within the specified time limit
– facilitates the availability and applicability of current construction information for the involved parties
– allows to detect potential project challenges or errors in the early stages of the project when they are still easy to correct
Combining the opportunities provided by BIM with the professional experience of our builders, we have created an efficient and professional team that is familiar with the BIM environment and is able to work with partners in the implementation of BIM projects. Therefore, we are proud of our 8 objects, in the construction of which we used Smart Construction — BIM:
JEKABPILS COURT HOUSE
BIM applied: in the design phase.
Result: Development of Architectural, Structural, HVAC, partial MEP, models during the design process
STOPIŅI MUNICIPALITY COMMUNITY CENTRE
BIM used: at the construction stage: redesign of building structures and communication networks as a 3D model, calculation of building structures, optimization of solutions, coordination of communication openings, construction site — planning of works, optimization of solutions during construction meetings, VR glasses – used for coordination of solutions.
Result: Development of Structural and HVAC models, coordination of mains openings, use of BIM models with VR glasses.
LUDZA CITY GYMNASIUM SWIMMING POOL
BIM used: in the construction stage. Design of the building structures in 3D, calculation of building structures, planning of optimization and integration of elements for the geometry of a building of complex configuration.
Result: Development of Structural model
CONSTRUCTION OF NEW BARRACKS
BIM used: in the construction stage. For the design of building structures in a 3D model, calculation of building structures, creation of a territory model from topography, 3D scanning of the surface, development of a DVP model, development of a 4D BIM dimension simulation, coordination of the model with the schedule of construction works.
Result: Development of Structural,Building site model, 4D BIM simulation
RĒZEKNE OLYMPIC CENTRE
BIM used: in the construction stage. For the design of architecture, building structures and networks from a 2D design into 3D models, development of detailed design. Approval and coordination of the architectural solution with an emphasis on coordination of the mains openings.
Result: Development and coordination of Architectural, Structural and HVAC models
RIGA ENGLISH GYMNASIUM
BIM used: in the construction stage. For redesign and transfer of building structures from 2D design into a 3D model, development of detailed design, solution coordination, coordination of layouts of mains openings, optimization of solution and retrieval of individual elements.
Result: Development of Structural and Architectural models
REVITALIZATION OF THE DEGRADED TERRITORY OF PĀROGRE INDUSTRIAL PARK
BIM used: in the construction stage. For the design of building structures, verification and optimization of calculations, coordination of Structural models and development of detailed design.
Result: development and coordination of Structural models, verification of Structural model calculations
CONSTRUCTION OF MĀRUPE PRIMARY SCHOOL AND SPORTS GROUND
Use of BIM processes in the initial design phase of the project:
During the design process: BIM training for the involved design parties, creating models for separate disciplines based on the 2D design, calculation of Structural models, mutual coordination process, retrieving volumes.
The result of the design stage: Developed BEP. Developed BIM models of Architecture, Structural, MEP and HVAC models, coordinated BIM-federated model and problem report.
Use of BIM in the construction stage: further development of the models at the construction site for the development of detailed design, planning and control of the status of the course of the construction.
Received award – 2nd place in the competition “Latvian Construction Award 2019” in category BIM object.
